Roswell has never been known to shy away from tradition and the love for the holiday season, and this year is no exception. Numerous amounts of clubs, students and teachers have decided to participate in this year’s spirit of giving. If you are looking for more ways to be involved in giving back to the Roswell community, here are some clubs and organizations that have dedicated their time to giving back this holiday season.

The Roswell Key Club is running a fundraiser to donate to the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. The football team and cheerleaders are also looking for donations of gift cards to give to teens in needs of gifts for the holidays. Teachers also carry on the thirteen year old tradition of donating to local charity groups, such as North Fulton Charity, which helps organize the generous donations and distribute them to families throughout the greater Atlanta area, including Roswell.

Roswell’s social worker Mrs. Rogers tells how admirable it is that the school “always has a club or organizations that are so service minded.” Mrs. Rogers also finds that the “spirit of the school is so giving,” making Roswell a special place for those who donate their time and goods to helping others, despite the other stresses that face students during the holiday and finals season.

Skills USA is also participating in the spirit of giving by hosting a food drive from Dec. 3 to 14, with boxes located in AA hall. There are several other ways students can get involved in giving back to the Roswell community outside of the hallways: organizations such as North Fulton Charity or NFC accepts donations of canned and non-perishable foods as well as used clothing or home goods.

Hands on Atlanta is a hub for organizations in need of volunteers for various types of service work such as “Hunger and Homeless,” “Environmental” and “Youth and Family Services.” Whether you donate a can of food, a gift card to a teen in need or just donate the old sweater you never wear anymore, the spirit of giving is all around the school and throughout the Atlanta area.
