Cooking With Gabby: Healthy Ground Turkey Chili

I am a big fan of healthy eating. When looking for recipes to cook, I want something with high nutritional value and great taste. 

I love chilli, so I used to spend hours looking on Pinterest for something that looked good. I then came across two turkey chilli recipes that I wanted to try. Unfortunately, I did not have time to cook two seperate chilis, so I combined the recipes and changed them.

My turkey chili has a little bit of spice and a lot of flavor. I like to use ground turkey in my chilli, but it can easily be substituted with ground beef or vegetarian meat products.

 

My chilli contains:

2lbs of ground turkey

half an onion (chopped)

1 can of diced tomatoes

diced green chilies (small can)

1 can of chickpeas

salsa

onion powder

cumin

chili powder

I first ground up the turkey in an everyday pan and cook the onion with it. Once the ground turkey is no longer pink, I drain the grease from the pan. I then pour in the diced tomatoes, diced green chilies and chickpeas. 

I never measure out seasoning because it depends on how spicy I want it; I season to taste. I then add in salsa to match the consistency I want (the salsa can overpower the rest of the ingredients so don’t add too much at once). Remember to taste everything as it cooks and add the appropriate seasonings to taste.

Turkey chili goes great with anything: rice, sweet potato, french fries, green beans and more.
