Gum, it’s something that could be considered one of the most essential school supplies. Gum can be found everywhere from students’ backpacks, pockets, and even under desks. It is one of the most popular foods that students bring to school, but not all gum is created equal. I will be listing the best and worst gum that there is and I will explain my reasons why.

These brands of gum are the best tasting and longest lasting.

The best gum brands include Trident gum, 5 gum, and Wrigley’s Extra gum. These three form the holy trinity of gum because of their various flavors and lifespan. If you want a reliable brand of gum that will always taste good and deliver a long-lasting experience, go with one of these three.

These brands of gum usually provide an acceptable chewing experience. It won’t be considered a sin within the gum community to enjoy these different gums, but it would certainly be questionable. These are Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit gum, Orbit gum, Icebreakers Ice Cubes, Dubble Bubble gum, and Hubba Bubba Bubble Tape. Since this is a larger list, I’ll go into my reasoning behind each. Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit has great flavor, but it has a major downside holding it back. The flavor only lasts about a minute, and anything after that is a bland nightmare. Chewing Juicy Fruit is like walking a catwalk at a fashion show and then falling flat on your face halfway through. Orbit gum is the definition of mediocre. It has an alright taste, and it lasts about as long as you would expect. Icebreakers Ice Cubes is one of the most unique brands of gum that exist. Rather than the traditional strip of gum, Ice Cubes uses a cube, as the name might suggest, as the vehicle of transport to a person’s taste buds. Frankly, I find the sharp edges of the cube intimidating, and the taste is too strong for me. Dubble Bubble gum is an interesting form of gum. It’s packaged individually and tastes pretty good. It faces the same problems that Juicy Fruit has, however. It barely lasts a full minute, and after that just provides endless sadness and disappointment. Hubba Bubba Bubble Tape is one of the most famous forms of gum that exists. Although the name suggests that it might be used as tape, please do not use it as actual tape. It is neither effective nor sticky enough to warrant the “tape” label, even if it is rolled like tape. The flavor is great, but it is not complex at all. What you see is what you get, and this gum provides a standard bubble gum flavor.

This is the gum of nightmares. This gum is one of the most disgusting things a person can experience, and the ingredients in most of these could possibly be a mix of children’s tears, sadness, and burnt dog hair. These brands are Eclipse gum, Chiclet gum, and bubblegum balls from those machines that take quarters. These are the worst forms of chewable candy in the history of humankind, and could only barely be considered “gum”.
