After three state appearances since 2023, The boys’ and girls’ lacrosse teams aim for state titles in 2025. With many starters remaining on both teams, the accomplishment is a strong possibility.
Since 2022, the boys’ team has an incredible 41-5 record and two Area 5 titles. Despite last year’s seniors, such as Ezra Moore, graduating and taking on D1 opportunities, the unit is loaded with talent.
Including some young faces like Sophomores Blake O’neal and Harrison Penn, who are excited to have more prominent roles on the team.
“It feels great to go into this season with more knowledge about the team and how we operate. Since we had some key players graduate last year, there are lots of opportunities for people to step up, and we definitely have people to fill those roles. I am 100% certain that we can win a three-peat; we just need to stick to what we do and keep grinding.” Sophomore Harrison Penn said when asked about heading into the new year.
The boys can make history this year with three straight state titles, winning in 2023 and 2024. The team’s first match will be against Chattahoochee on Feb. 10th at the nest.
Similarly, the girls are looking for gold for the first time in franchise history. Although making three appearances in 2011, 2012, and 2023, the team has yet to win it all.
Although the program has never won state, it has assisted former players in obtaining college scholarships and commitments. One of which is Roswell graduate Gracie Karoly, who is playing her first collegiate season at Flagler University this year.
Other former players are also happy with how the is progressing and developing.
“I’m really proud to see the girls that I played with continuing to play hard and be great leaders to the underclassmen. We’ve built a strong program, and it’s good to see they’re still taking pride in it.” Former Roswell defender Maclain Chapiro said when asked about the team’s progress since her graduation.
With talented players throughout the roster, including Kent State commit Mary “M.K.” Tucker, the team’s chances of securing the school’s first championship title are likely. The girls’ first matchup will be against Carrollton on Feb. 12th.
