Issues between the cast of the movie ‘It Ends with Us’ have begun growing more intense, specifically between the lead actors Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. Claims have been made, and lawsuits have been filed, but the internet is spiraling trying to figure out who seems to be the good guy in this situation.
Ever since the movie came out on Aug. 9, 2024, controversy has always played a big part with the views of the internet. The original controversy can be read and understood more here: Controversy Arises with ‘It Ends with Us’ Movie – The Sting.
Due to the writers’ strike, filming had shut down about halfway through the filming of the movie. Lively decided to schedule a meeting with Baldoni as well as a few others involved in the production to discuss things that had to happen to continue filming.

The list of things that had to be discussed obtained suggestions such as hiring an intimacy coordinator, no spontaneous kissing scenes, no physical touch or comments on Livelys appearance, no one trying to get into Livelys trailer while she’s undressed/dressing, no discussing personal intimate experiences, a representative constantly on set, etc. Lively alleges that all of these issues stated above were going on prior to the strike and claims she complained to HR (human resources) and HR did nothing about it.
After filming was finally wrapped, the movie marketing plan began. Part of the plan was to promote the movie to be a movie about hope rather than domestic violence. As promotion began, none of the cast members were promoting the film with Baldoni. Baldonis publicist recognizes this and decides to make a crisis PR firm to paint Baldoni out to be the good guy. Screenshots between Baldoni and his PR team show receipts of his team plotting to take down Livelys career and make her appear to be a bad person to work with.
Articles began to be published claiming that Baldoni was the only person to promote the movie in the correct way. It was seen that the movie should be promoted as a movie about domestic violence and that it was wrong of Lively amongst the rest of the cast to promote this movie in a hopeful positive manner.
On Jan. 17, 2025, Baldoni and his company WayFare officially filed a lawsuit against both Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds. Baldoni got the rights to the movie and the writer of the book, Coleen Hoover, and Lively were on board with this decision, but Lively wanted this to be a collaborative relationship for the directing of the movie. As they began filming, Baldoni claims Lively began taking control over more and more aspects.
Baldoni claims that Lively threatened to be re-casted if certain things weren’t how she believed they should be. Baldoni explains that Lively never wanted to meet with the intimacy coordinator that she demanded to have. In Baldonis 179 page lawsuit, he shuts down just about every point and complaint Lively made. This has led to much confusion around the world surrounding who is telling the truth in their claims.
As more information begins to be released, this case will most likely make its way into court.
