Fast fashion has taken the world by storm; however, so has the new movement towards saving the environment. Being a high school student interested in clothing can be tough, due to the higher prices and lower quality of constantly changing styles. However, a suitable option for most teens would be DIY clothing. The idea of sewing can sound daunting, or old fashioned, but it is the most cost-efficient and ethical way to create exactly the outfit of your dreams. Vintage sewing machines can be found everywhere from Facebook Marketplace, or garage sales, to local flea markets. The prices can range from $25 to $800 for nice machines, but this one time investment will contribute to saving the Earth, preventing the promotion of harmful capitalism, and allow the creativity of students to shine through their clothing.
