Why I’m Tired of Tropical Vacations

Typically when I travel it’s always to a tropical/beachy area. The different areas I’ve been to like this include Aruba, different parts of California, the coast of Spain, and numerous beaches in Florida. Going to the beach is always fun and relaxing, but it gets boring fairly quickly. There’s only so much that you can do before it gets repetitive, and you only want to relax in the sun for so long before it starts getting cold. It’s worse when you’re alone, or there’s no one your age with the same interests to keep you company. I personally don’t enjoy playing in the sand anymore, considering I’m almost 17. The smarter person doesn’t go out too far into the ocean in caution of riptides and enormous waves, but I get tired of near death experiences after a while. It’s kind of annoying when your mom keeps acting like she’s going to have a heart attack with each wave that goes over your head.

I enjoy vacations regardless, whether they’re by the beach or in the mountains. However, where I would prefer to go next is Scotland. Imagine parasailing over the grassy green plains of Scotland’s hills with the wind ripping your cheeks from your face. Hiking through beautiful trails to different waterfalls where you can jump in over and over until your heart’s content. The culture of its people would be brand new and interesting, not to mention the food. Hopefully it’s good. Anyplace new would be exciting. Such as South Africa, or Australia.

If I had to travel to another tropical area I would choose anyplace off of the coast of Australia nearest to the Great Barrier Reef. It a small goal of mine to scuba dive in the waters of the Great Barrier Reef, if only to experience it once. My father has scuba dived before, even in close proximity to whales, and I want to follow his footsteps tremendously. To see the great beasts of the ocean with my own eyes, from a distance of course. The world is too vast and intriguing for me not to explore it, so I’ll do as much as I can in the time that I’ve been given.
