What are seniors looking forward to this year?

It took about seventeen to eighteen years of life to finally reach this moment, but it has arrived at long last. The Class of 2019 finally reach the final stage of their school years. They have gotten more privileges and get to experience what the seniors from previous years had done, such as the senior picnic and spirit days. The Class of 2019 are expected to take on anything to get through ten months of school work. The question is, what is specifically on seniors’ minds?

First off, it must be understood that seniors have a lot of stress. They have SATs or ACTs to take if they want a good chance in getting into their future college. Speaking of college, going college visiting is another thing that is in a senior’s mind. College visiting allows someone to walk around and get to know the campus a bit. “I don’t know anything else I’m looking forward to. But I guess college visits because I’ll be doing some anyway,” said senior Alex Jacobsen. Not only do seniors have to plan for colleges, but they must apply for them. But this is a long process, especially when the upperclassmen get bombarded with an overload of work.

But what about the non-school-related stuff? Don’t worry, it is coming. It took a long time for the upperclassmen to get some experience out of this, but they finally get to the good stuff. It is a fact the seniors can’t wait for graduation. If anyone asks a senior what they are waiting for, about 99 percent or even all of the time, they will hear the word “graduation” as the number one thing to look forward to. But, of course, it is at least nine months away. Not only that, but graduating isn’t guarantee able. It’ll take more than just plain ole patience to achieve it. Senior Lincoln Huagh thinks so likewise, “I want to get good grades from graduation.” So, what else is on one’s mind besides graduation? What exciting activities could be done that are relatively closer than graduation? “I guess that one thing I’ll be looking forward to is prom,” said senior Miles Horren. It is true. Prom is a fantastic event to be spent with friends or significant others. “Senior picnic,” said Senior Vianka Quintana and Sarah Swedorski in response to being asked about what they were looking forward to. Senior picnic is an event for the seniors to enjoy eating outside. The last thing worth mentioning is the spirit days. This is happening right now. Students are encouraged to wear school colors on “Football Fridays” to show their school spirit. They wear senior or black shirts with camo pants or camo accessories. This is not required, but it is encouraged by the school and a fun senior privilege.

In order to make a long story relatively short, there isn’t a whole lot for seniors to look forward to in terms of content. However, there is getting a huge role in traditions, which hold a whole lot of meaning to the upperclassmen. Something little can mean something big. To go from being a cute, little toddler to a nearly or fully-grown adult is a course of life. Seniors have spent over a decade learning from experiences that felt pleasant or experiences that they wouldn’t want to look back on. Seniors learn new stuff each and every day. So, to say that it is a privilege to get the right to eat outside and wear camouflage is a proven fact.
