The Roswell Wrestling team has been making exceptional strides. They ended the season by heading to the state championships, with wrestlers David Cartier, Christian Cartier, Joseph Sci, and Jenna Kaiser all qualifying. Senior David Cartier and sophomore Christian Cartier are the sibling duo on the team and both placed at state. “It’s amazing having a built-in training partner. He’s really good at what he does and he helps make me a better person…I’m really grateful to have that,” says senior David Cartier.
The success of the team has been credited to their hard work, closeness, and teamwork.
“My favorite part about wrestling has been the community and the bonds that you form with the people you work, sweat, lose, and win together with,” says Cartier. The process of developing the team has taken lots of work. Wrestlers have to dedicate time to ensuring they reach their weight class, sometimes having to go through the process of cutting weight. All of the hard work of the season culminated at the state championship. Roswell High School placed 19th out of the 45 teams attending.
“This season went really well.… It was really cool to be able to be in the finals and have that whole ceremony and reach one of my goals,” says Cartier. David Cartier ended up being the state runner-up at the championships. He considers this a major goal achieved in his wrestling career.
With the wrestling season coming to a close, it’s evident how the team’s dedication to the sport has created a powerhouse of a team.
