Review on Joji’s new album “Nectar”

Drew Maddox, Editor In Chief

The artist Joji released his new album “Nectar” on Sept 25, 2020. While being extremely popular recently, Joji is still on the newer side of the singing-songwriting community, considering “Nectar” is only his second album. His first was “Ballads 1,” released in 2018. He has become extremely popular in the music industry and is one of my new favorite artists, so he appears on my playlist multiple times.

Joji continued to stick with the indie style of music in “Nectar.” I feel he did a very phenomenal job with this new album and am obsessed with his cool, indie, and retro style. His music always puts me in the best mood, no matter what the situation is. Its impressive lyrics are inspiring, too. I loved the fact that Joji can keep his fans positive and happy during these difficult times just like many other artists are doing.

“Nectar” consists of 18 tracks, out of these my favorite is entitled “Pretty Boy” featuring Lil Yachty. This was an extremely hard decision to make considering Joji’s work in this new album is amazing. In “Pretty Boy,” he talks about city life and how it’s so special and fun. He goes on to mention how he’s living his best life, “living so loud,” he sings. “Pretty Boy” is more on the upbeat side of “Nectar’s” songs and every time it plays it puts me in a very bright mood, making me want to listen to it endlessly.
