COVID-19 has had the whole world in crisis for the last nine months and now the president of the United States has contracted COVID-19. This was not good for the president because of his health and the upcoming presidential debates.

Donald Trump and the Democratic candidate Joe Biden have been attacking each other for the last couple months now, so contracting the coronavirus is not good for Donald Trump’s campaign.

Even though Donald Trump has been the president of the United States for four years now and has experience of what being the president of the United States takes from day-to-day, many people could be on edge when Election Day happens on Tuesday, Nov 3, 2020. As Donald Trump has contracted COVID-19 many days in advance of the actual election, many voters have decided to vote early.

Many Democrats and Republicans weren’t surprised that President Trump caught the virus as many of them believed that he did not take enough precautions to prevent himself and others from getting the virus. The big reason they had thought this is due to Donald Trump’s big rallies.

President Trump and his wife Melania Trump tested positive and both took another test soon after they had received the news of testing positive. Luckily they have now both tested negative.

Due to President Trump contracting COVID-19, his campaign came to a screeching halt. The statistics show that Joe Biden is leading both the polls and fundraising as President Trump trails behind.

The top infectious disease expert Dr. Fauci was asked in an interview by CBS network, “Were you surprised that President Trump got sick?” Dr. Fauci responded, saying, “I was worried that he was going to get sick when I saw him in a completely precarious situation of crowded people, no separation between people and almost nobody wearing a mask.” As COVID-19 keeps getting worse and more people stay in tune, they listen to the experts such as Dr. Fauci. This could sway many people to vote for Biden.

Sophomore Ryan Sergeant states that “Honestly I think that people won’t care whether or not he had COVID-19. People’s minds are made up already on who they want to vote for, so we’ll see on Election Day.”
