“Pride and Prejudice,” an adaptation of the Jane Austen novel, was remade in 2005. Notable actors starring in the film include the stunning Keira Knightley, Matthew Macfadyen, Donald Sutherland, and Rosamund Pike. Keira Knightley portrays the main character, Elizabeth Bennet, as her and her large family struggle to retain their status in the English countryside. Elizabeth Bennet has four sisters who all share the goal of finding a wealthy English man to wed. However, “Pride and Prejudice” focuses on main character Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy’s relationship.

I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this movie, although I think some might find a few scenes slow because it’s a pretty long film. Throughout the movie, the director includes several breathtaking landscapes of the English countryside and pays very close attention to detail. I also loved the authentic 18th century dresses and elaborate hairstyles and wished I could go back in time to dress up with the characters. I would definitely rate this movie a 9/10 for its romance, humor, and gorgeous cinematography.

I would recommend this move to anyone who enjoys a slow-burn romance with a touch of light-hearted humor and phenomenal acting. Also, Jane Austen has several other novels that have been adapted into to film and are similarly enjoyable such as “Emma” and “Persuasion.”
