Every week on Fridays, Spotify releases a playlist of new music that has been released in the past week. From most popular to more underground artists the playlist allows you to discover new music ten times from artists you would not normally listen to. The playlist has over 3.7 million likes and this week is five hours and twenty minutes long. This week’s playlist says, “New music from Halsey, Selena Gomez, Kacey Musgraves, Lil Tecca, and more!”

The playlist has a mix of popular pop, K-pop, rap, and indie music. The first song on the playlist is Halsey’s “I am not a woman, I’m a god.” The song was a part of her new album “If I Can’t Have Love, I want Power,” which was released on August 27th, 2021. The song itself is an expression of femininity and feminine power of the ongoing social statement “God is a Woman.” The album’s cover even has a queen with a child as the cover.

The playlist also includes songs from BTS, featured by Megan Thee Stallion. The song “Butter” also came out on August 27th, 2021. It is a single collaboration with the rapper. The song fits BTS’s normal exciting pop music vibe while it is a little different for Megan Thee Stallion to collab with as most of her collabs are with other rappers.

My favorite song on the playlist was “justified,” by Kacey Musgraves. The song was released the same Friday and is a single amongst her discographies. The song is a soft pop song about justifying herself for calling an ex-lover when she is in a time of need and despair. The song fits Kacey’s trend of love songs either about current or past love. It already has become one of her most listened to songs reaching her top five chart on her Spotify profile.
