On August 27th, Jaden Smith dropped “CTV3: Day Tripper’s Edition”.

This was the long-awaited sequel to “CTV3: Cool Tape Vol.3”. The 20 song albums fall under the alternative category unlike his previous albums all under HIP-HOP/RAP.

If you liked Jaden rapping better, then this album is not for you. Quick lines, constant yelling, and symbolic bars aren’t as present as they were before. From songs 1-20 the pace is slow, but sometimes shows rare flashes of fast lines as it travels through Jaden’s love life.

The number one song on the album hands down is “Summer”. The two-and-a-half-minute song is a perfect mix of alternative and hip-hop. The fast-paced chorus transitions into a slow-paced song back into the quick chorus.

This song is a must-add to your playlist, whether you’re trying to relax or get hype. Another banger on the album was “BYE”. The love song represents Jaden reminiscing and slowly getting over his former lover.

Throughout the album, I saw zero flaws. Jaden aced the transition into alternative music and should continue to drop more music like this.

As an avid music fan of all genres, I rate the album 8.5/10. Points were only deducted due to the duration of the songs being too short.

Overall, this is a great album that should be added to your playlists immediately! Go check out “CTV3: Day Tripper’s Edition” now!
