Zax Hacks: 5 Things You Didn’t Know About Zaxby’s

Savannah Young, Director of Design

If there’s one thing I’ve learned while working at Zaxby’s, it’s that there’s so many ways to customize your order to your needs. Need to substitute one item for another? We’ve got you covered. Missing your favorite limited-time drink? We’ll whip one up for you, no problem. Here’s the top five things you probably didn’t know about Zaxby’s.

You can substitute the kids’ treats for cookies

After Zaxby’s discontinued their brownies and milkshakes, customers flocked to the restaurant’s cookies. They’re currently available in three flavors: chocolate chip, white chocolate chip macadamia nut, and double chocolate chip. (Credit: Zaxby’s)

Everyone that comes through the drive-thru has a love-hate relationship when it comes to the Goldfish Grahams included with kiddie meals. If you’re not a fan of them, or want to switch up your order, you can actually exchange your Goldfish Graham for any of the cookies available (chocolate chip, white chocolate chip macadamia nut, and double chocolate). Pretty good deal, if you ask me.

You can substitute sides

As someone who has never (and I mean never) liked coleslaw, I’ll be the first to tell you about substituting your coleslaw for another side (extra toast or fries). More and more customers have been coming through asking us to leave out the coleslaw and add in extra fries or toast—and I don’t blame them. But don’t worry, if you love their coleslaw, rest assured that it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. It’s still a popular item among some people (with a few people ordering 32 oz of it).

When seasonal drinks are gone, you can still request them

Although the drink is a newer addition to the menu, it’s booming in popularity. Currently, it’s one of my locations popular flavors. (Credit: Zaxby’s)

I’m going to be one hundred percent honest with you: your beloved Strawberry Lime Sipper and Cherry Grape Blaster are just different Sprite flavors mixed together. Crazy, right?

So many people have come through requesting the Strawberry Lime Sipper and Cherry Grape Blaster that I’m assuming there’ll be an outcry when Zaxby’s begins it’s next seasonal promotion.

So, for future reference:

  • Strawberry Lime Sipper: Strawberry Sprite mixed with lime Sprite (I’d say half and half)
  • Cherry Grape Blaster: Cherry Sprite mixed with grape Sprite

You can “go big” on your order

I’ve seen many people come through the drive-thru thinking they’re getting a deal by getting a regular fry and large drink on the side. But there’s an easier (and more cost-effective) way to get extra fries and a bigger drink. By going big on your order, you’re only paying 90 cents for something that would cost over four dollars otherwise. I usually suggest this to customers whenever they request a large drink. Trust me, it’s a good deal.

The food is always fresh

At my location, and most others, the food is made fresh when you order. This is why it’s not technically fast food, but a restaurant that just so happens to have a drive-thru. (Credit: Zaxby’s)

If you’ve ever wondered why Zaxby’s food is so fresh, it’s because it is. Chicken is prepped and made every day, unlike other fast-food chains that just throw “food” in the fryer and call it a day. We season the fries ourselves, make our own milk wash, and make the celery every day. So, you don’t need to worry about how old the food you are eating is.
