A look into Roswell High School’s dance team
April 9, 2019
Every week there’s a new “buzz” around school; this week it’s Roswell’s new dance team. In our annual pep rally, students were taken back by the new dance team’s superb and surprising performance, leaving everyone speculating and yearning for more information about the newly-discovered team. I interviewed Gigi Owen, junior and captain, asking her to inform the readers of this article about the inside scoop on the team and how they got started.
Just like any member of a team, she spoke very highly of her teammates and the hard work that they continuously put into their practices.
“In total there’s 13 girls on the dance team: Zoe, Sumaya, Rita, Nyasia, Noelle, Makaiya, Maggie, Leah, Jakiya, Ellie, Arabia and Adriana,” added Gigi.
“We have state championships on the 16th!” Gigi exclaimed, “My girls have been practicing so hard, and I am so proud. We are excited to get out there and show them what we got!”
“My favorite part is connecting with the girls while doing something we all love. We are truly a family and always get hype together. I always look forward to the rush you get while you are performing and the feeling that you know that you know you left it all on the floor,” replied Gigi, when asked about her favorite part of her dance team experiences. For anyone thinking of trying out for the team, Gigi has some recommendations. “The most important things we look for at tryouts is your energy, power, faces, and sharpness. Anyone can try out! Just have fun with it,” said Gigi.
