Senior Valedictorian: Riley Davis

Emerson Keith, Editor-in-Chief

It is that time of year again! Graduation is only a few months away, and the 2021-22 school year is coming to an end. This means it is also time to recognize the Valedictorian of this year. This person is someone who shows hard work and dedication in school and outside of school. Senior Riley Davis was picked as the best choice for the title of senior Valedictorian.

Riley is a very hard-working and diligent student here at Roswell, but she is also a very committed student athlete. Riley is on the varsity girl’s lacrosse team as midfielder and has played on the team since she was a freshman here at RHS. She is also on the school’s varsity swim team and has been a part of it for two years now. Riley was named team captain of both varsity teams just over the last 2 years. She has put so much time and work into being so successful in these two sports and deserves recognition for it.

Not only is Riley part of the varsity swim and lacrosse program here, but she is also involved in many other clubs and societies. She holds significant roles in her extra curriculars here at RHS. Some of the clubs that she is a part of include National Honors Society, Beta Club, Friends Club and so many others. Riley has also been a part of the National Charity League outside of school for 6 years now.

Here is a list of all the clubs she is involved in, according to Riley:

-National Honors Society – 2 years

  • Events Coordinator Officer – 1 year

-Beta Club – 3 years

  • Treasurer – 1 year

-UNICEF Club – 3 years

  • President – 1 year

-Chemistry Club – 2 years

-Friends Club – 3 years

-Student Council – 4 years

Riley clearly has a very packed schedule. Just between schoolwork, clubs, and sports, it is a lot to manage. Most students struggle with time management, but Riley mentioned this advice to better manage her full schedule, “I have a daily planner that I use to keep track of all my schoolwork and tests. I also use my study hall to get most of my homework done.” Anyone who struggles to balance their crazy schedule with everything else going on in their lives can use this advice to help.

Now it is shown that Riley does not have much time on her hands, but she is sure to make time for her friends and family. Riley says that she enjoys spending a lot of time with her friends and family, but also has many other interests, “I also enjoy cooking and baking and I love listening to music.” While Riley seems extremely focused on school, she always has time for some fun! She also claims that she loves to volunteer for her community.

With Riley proving her title of Valedictorian, some might be wondering what she is going to go on to do after high school. This is how Riley answers, “I am still waiting on a few college decisions so I am not positive where I will be attending.” She says that depending on which college she ends up at, she plans on majoring in Psychology or Kinesiology. She also says that once she is out of college, she would like to pursue a career in Occupational Therapy.

Riley has fulfilled her time here at RHS with so much involvement and dedication, but most importantly she filled this school with her encouraging personality and smiling face. We know that this school will miss Riley, but we also know that she will go on to do such amazing things. Roswell High School is proud to say that Riley Davis is this year’s Senior Valedictorian.
