On Aug. 23, 2024, Sabrina Carpenter dropped her highly anticipated 6th album, “Short n’ Sweet,” and it’s already making waves in the pop music scene. After her summer of hit singles, Carpenter sets a high bar for pop music with her new album.
‘Short n’ Sweet’ consists of 12 songs, only 36 minutes long, with two familiar singles, “Espresso” and “Please Please Please.” These two songs skyrocketed Sabrina’s music career after making music for years.
Carpenter’s previous album, released in 2022 was her first post-Disney break up album. Titled, “emails I can’t send,” the album included many songs about her personal experiences. These experiences include breakups and the falling out of a love triangle, but on “Short n’ Sweet,” it is clear that she is just here for a good time.
On this album, Carpenter explores different types of pop in her songs. For example, the first song on the album, “Taste,” is sparkly pop-rock like, while other songs like “Slim Pickins” are more dolly-indebted twang.
Back-tracking to “emails I can’t send,” fans saw Carpenter switching between folk, R&B, country, and general pop, and “Short n’ Sweet” brings a whole new and fun vibe to the table.
One of the most important factors when making this album was the incredible songwriters and producers Carpenter worked with. Short n’ Sweets’ main co-writer is Amy Allen. Others such as Julia Michaels, John Ryan, and even Jack Antonoff all collaborated with Carpenter.
Listeners have both loved and hated this album, fans finishing the album shocked with some of the lyrics. Some claim that Carpenters new album is the ‘raunchiest, wittiest pop album of the year.’ Others claim the lyrics are right up her alley and fans couldn’t be happier.
Overall, fans favorite thing about this album is how much Sabrina’s fun personality shows through each song. With her upcoming tour, fans can’t wait to jump and sing along to every song!
