The NFL football season started on Sept. 5, 2024, when the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Baltimore Ravens. The season came to a close on Jan. 5, 2025, and now eight teams are playing for the chance to compete in the Super Bowl. There are four teams from the American Football Conference (AFC) that are outdoing the others. The teams are the Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens, Houston Texans, and the Kansas City Chiefs, who all have a high chance of going to the Super Bowl.
As front-runners for the Lombardi trophy, the Buffalo Bills have yet to win the team’s first Super Bowl. Josh Allen, the team’s starting quarterback, is an MVP caliber player. He threw 3,731 yards in the 2024 season and is considered a dual threat with his 12 touchdowns on the ground. Allen’s versatility gives his offense an advantage over opposing defenses. Hopefully, the team will finally win the big game.

The Baltimore Ravens have an improving defense and outstanding running game. Lamar Jackson, their starting quarterback, is a two-time MVP (2018, 2023) and is looking for his third this season. Jackson’s production is heavily dependent on Derrick Henry’s historic year. Henry, the team’s starting running back, averaged 113 rushing yards per game in the 2024 season. This is a great average for a contending team.
The Houston Texans are a young team and are the league’s underdogs heading into the divisional round. Will Anderson Jr. is the team’s star on the defensive side of the ball, who had eleven sacks in 2024. He earned his first Pro Bowl nod and even won the 2023 Defensive Rookie of the Year (DROY) award his rookie year. The team had a lot of injuries this past season, especially the defense, as half of their team is on limited playing time. However, they’re still standing strong.
The Kansas City Chiefs are reigning Super Bowl champions as they’ve won the past two years. The team wants to win again for a historic three-peat with Patrick Mahomes under center for his seventh playoff appearance. Given Mahomes’ 3,928 yards and twenty-six passing touchdowns, the star still looked strong, despite multiple injuries within his offense. On the other side, the defense is continuing to step up their game, finishing the regular season fourth in points allowed. Considering the team’s previous playoff success, the number one seed in prime to go all the way.
Those four teams have a very high chance of going to the Super Bowl. Between the Buffalo Bills having Allen or Mahomes having Kansas City’s back, the teams will fight for their spot in the 2025 Super Bowl.
