After another outstanding season under Head Coach Bryan Wallace, the Hornets aim for a historic three-peat. However, the team must be at their best to advance in the playoffs.
Currently, Roswell ranks third in the state, with only recording three losses on the year. One of the losses was to the Lassiter Trojans, the frontrunners to win it all.
The Trojans defeated Roswell’s potent offense, winning 10-7 and remaining undefeated. Despite the loss, the Hornets returned to form, winning their last three games. Given both teams’ outstanding performances throughout 2025, a Roswell vs. Lassiter State Title game is very likely.
“The biggest problem with the Lassiter game was our inability to follow and execute our game plan going into the game. I think where we are now, if we were to rematch them, we could pull it off if we follow the game plan and work out a few kinks.”.
Junior Rowan Chapiro said about the team’s growth since the loss to Lassiter.
Lassiter just won the 2025 Division 2 Area 3 Championship and boasts a strong 15-1 record, ranking higher nationally than the Hornets. Roswell secured its Area Title weeks ago and has a solid goals-to-goals-allowed ratio of 238 to 98.

A key matchup in this possible contest would be Attacker Landen Sommers and defenseman Harrison Penn. Sommers returns this year for the Trojans after averaging 4.3 goals per game last year. The senior was a first-team all-state selection in 2024 and is currently committed to Sacred Heart University. As a sophomore, Penn has performed exceptionally well in his first year as a starter, gaining recognition throughout the state for his outstanding defense and powerful hits.
“In years past, we’ve relied on deep Senior classes to lead us, but with this year having only three Seniors, a lot of younger guys have stepped up big in terms of maturing and stepping into leadership roles. As a team, we know that we’re young and are playing teams with majority of seniors, so we’ve kept each other accountable throughout the season.”
Senior Ben Weir when asked about the team’s team chemistry without the presence of multiple Seniors.
With the amount of attention these two teams are receiving from Georgia media outlets, this possible State title matchup will surely be one to watch. With three games remaining in the regular season, Roswell must prepare for playoff time if the team aims for a possible three-peat.
