February 4, 2021
With COVID-19 cases still rising, scientists have created a vaccine to help protect you from contracting the virus. If available, you should make sure to take the vaccine. Some people are concerned about the vaccine’s side effects, like fever, headache, soreness, and fatigue. No effects of the vaccine will cause you to become seriously ill. By taking the vaccine your body will provide some resistance to the virus. The CDC states that the vaccine will need a couple of weeks to go into effect building immunity to COVID-19. One of the worst things about the virus is its ability to spread. If you get COVID-19, the vaccine will not only fight off the virus but slow down the rate at which it affects other people around you. With more vaccines taken, there would be a massive drop in COVID-19 cases. Despite the slow spread of the vaccine, they are already being dispersed throughout the world. Bloomberg Media states, “The biggest vaccination campaign in history has begun. More than 29 million doses in 43 countries have been administered...Vaccinations in the U.S. began Dec 14 with health-care workers, and so far, 9.27 million doses have been given, according to a state-by-state tally by Bloomberg and data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.” With frequent distribution, everyone will have the chance to take the vaccine. Not only should you do it for yourself, but for the world. “Taking the vaccine will make me feel safer,” says junior Boubacar Diallo. “Everyone needs to take it at some point, it’s the best chance we have at putting an end to COVID-19.
