Starting in April and ending in October, residents can buy fresh produce, vibrant colored flowers, artisan products and much more at the Roswell Farmers and Artisans Market located by City Hall. Their mission is to “be an advocate in building a community around a local and sustainable food economy.” They have a variety of diverse vendors and small businesses available. They also have live music playing while you’re strolling throughout the market.

This past Saturday I had the chance to visit the Roswell Farmers and Artisans Market and talk to some of our local vendors about their business.

I talked with Ariana from Indigo Bath and Body about her locally made bath and body products. When asked about her business Ariana describes it as “I’m Ariana and I’m with Indigo Bath and Body and were all about farm-to-body skincare. We make everything except for our sea sponges, we get those from a family owned company in Tarpon Springs, Florida. 95% of our products are gonna have a natural ingredients in them, so were really trying to stimulate our local economy and support local farmers. We grow all the berries and herbs that we use in our products and whatever we don’t grow we try to source locally. We’ve got a variety of skincare from soap to serums to essential oils which we get straight from the source as well beard oils, moisturizing skin sticks, and bath bombs. You name it, we’ve got it and were always looking for new stuff to bring to our customers.”

I was also privileged to talk to the owner of On The Wire, Lynda Sharp, who creates homemade aluminum jewelry. Sharp spoke to me about what her business is all about: “I work in aluminum wire, so everything I make is lot lighter than it actually is. It doesn’t tarnish so it’s really easy to wear and store because it doesn’t turn different colors. I was an art major in college, so I did large sculptural work and when I graduated I scaled down to wearable art, so a lot of my pieces started out really sculptural and the fluidity there and I transitioned to more simple looks over the years and expanded my line to earrings, necklaces, bracelets and rings. So a little bit of art for everyone, is my motto.”

Ilana from Levity Farms also spoke to me about the local produce she grows: “My name is Ilana and I am one half of Levity Farms. My fiance Zach and I grow local, fresh naturally certified grown produce for a couple of farmers markets and the metro-Atlanta community of restaurants and chefs.”
