Ty Myers is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist from Austin, Texas. At just 17-year-old, Myers released his first ever full-length album on Jan. 25, 2025, titled, “The Select” consisting of 16 songs just over an hour long. “The Select” showcases Myers amazing talent, promising a very successful future.
Something that really stood out in this album was Myers ability to cover so many different emotions throughout the songs. If you listen to each, you will notice that a song like, “Thought It Was Love” which is sung in a sorrowful style, it is very different from a song like, “Too Far Gone” that is more upbeat and aggressive. These songs are both written about a heartbreak, but with two very separate approaches. His effortless shifts in emotion alongside his deep and personal thoughts in his lyrics are just a few of the things that makes this young songwriter so impressive.
What makes Myers such a unique country artist which was shown on “The Select” specifically in the song “Can’t Hold Me Down” is the unique cords and melodies he incorporates into the song. Styles such as blues and rock are used as influence for his chords, which is not something that you would hear in typical modern country songs today.
My favorite song on this album is “Ends of the Earth”. This track expresses Myers idea that he is willing to stay by the women’s side no matter what happens, but it is up to her if she will keep him around.
Overall, I would rate this album a 5/5. As far as debut albums go, I think Myers did an amazing job with “The Select” and it is an album that I constantly find myself listening to. It was hard to choose a favorite because every song is so good and different from one another, and I find this album to have no skips.
Myers has gained significant amounts of support and attention from new fans, selling out numerous nights of his tour, called “The Select Tour.” Being such a young artist with a booming start, a successful career is hopeful. I cannot wait to see what opportunities the future holds for him, as well as his future songs and albums to come.
