Golf is an art in many peoples’ opinions. There are different types of clubs that are used for different ranges based on where you are on the course. Starting off, a driver is when you tee off and give the biggest range to get as close as possible to the hole. Next, a hybrid club is used to get you over 150 plus yards airborne. After that comes the 2 to 9-iron, which helps in hitting towards the green and gives you a range from 120 to190 yards away. One tip for irons are that you should use the lower-numbered irons for longer shots and high-numbered irons for shorter shots. The wedge is used to hit short, high shots from the green or from sand bunkers. Lastly, the putter is used to hit the ball into the hole while it is on the green.

As the golf team stepped up its game, Kady Foshaug, junior and player for the golf team, was asked how last year’s season went.

“We did well last year. We qualified for state but didn’t do as well as we wanted to,” said Kady.

As of right now, they continue to practice for their first match. “We qualify for state by doing a tournament called region and whichever teams out of three get the lowest score goes to state,” said Kady.

The way they score is by how many times they hit the ball and there are certain names for each, such as an hole in one, eagle and boogie. Kady and her teammates, Emily, Anna Marie, and Liney, are working on their swing and improving their scores as the season begins.
