On December 15, 2020, Apple released a continuation of their airpods line, the AirPods Max.

The AirPods Max unlike the AirPods Pro and older generations of the AirPods are over ear headphones. This new addition creates a broader option of what you can choose from when looking for headphones from Apple.

Considering that Apple has made the new headphones over ear the price has increased largely. The AirPods Pro are listed for $549 on the Apple website. This is a big increase in price from the other models Apple have released, but there are some new features with these AirPods Max.

The AirPods Max are made of steel and aluminum materials and come in five different colors with matte finishes. Space Gray, Green, Silver, Sky Blue, and Pink are the colors available currently. In each ear cup there is an Apple H1 chip that makes it faster to switch between devices, connecting to phone calls, and minimal gaming latency.

AirPods Max include Adaptive EQ, Active Noise Cancellation, Transparency mode, and spatial audio. But it is to note that these are all features that are included in the AirPods Pro as well. The AirPods Max also includes a digital crown which is used to control volume, play/pause, activating siri, or skipping tracks. This digital crown is located on the right ear cup.

Another new addition to the AirPods Max is that it has a Smart Case that the older devices do not. When you put your Airpods Max into the Smart Case when you are not using them they go into a low power mode instantly to preserve battery charge.

In Comparison the AirPods Max cost a large amount more than the option that Beats by Dre offers. So in conclusion this is more of a luxury buy and if you are buying your first earphones from Apple it is smarter to go with the AirPods Pro.
